Dear COHE member,

 

A recent move afoot between the BOR and the Student Federation would increase the amount of the student-paid faculty salary competiveness fee.   This would increase the pool available to finance faculty salary increases above what the state may provide in any particular year.    

  

As you may know, this fee provides more than one-third of the base salary for most faculty in our system.   

For these purposes, faculty includes administrators with faculty ranks and other exempt faculty outside the bargaining unit, which is disappointing.  

   

Since it is not appropriate to finance more of higher education costs on the backs of students, we

reluctantly support the idea.
