SDSU-COHE
January 25, 2011
Greetings!

This message is being sent to dues-paying COHE members at SDSU.

Your Input On Tentatively Agreeing to Two Items

We are preparing to "tentatively agree" (TA) to a few non-controversial items when we bargain with the BOR staff this coming Saturday.  I wanted to provide you with one last opportunity to comment on two of their proposals.  If you have any objections to either of these proposals, please respond ASAP!

We are ready to TA that only tenured faculty are eligible to serve on P&T Committees (Section 12.B), instead of tenure track, subject to recognition that some units may have few such faculty and the committee size may need to be reduced.   Tenure track will remain part of the electorate, but will not be eligible to serve.

In 1.7, we are prepared to agree to delete this language: "For an extension program, a faculty unit member's immediate supervisor is the respective program leader."  This only affects our campus, but I want to see if there are any concerns about this out there.  Please consult with any faculty who you know have extension appointments.

I attach the consolidated document with both sides' proposals again, which I also provided to you yesterday.

Thanks for your kind responses to the hazing bill!

Sincerely,

Gary Aguiar
