Connecting the GI Motility Lab to EMR Systems
With the government's healthcare reform pushing healthcare technology forward, Electronic Medical Systems are becoming much more essential. Hardcopy medical files are not only behind the times, but are also a less efficient way for medical facilities to work. Computerized Medical Devices are productive, until patient information needs to be safely transferred. Patient information cannot be crossed with other databases. Computers also have a risk of crashing and losing important information as well. MMS's Solar GI uses the HL/7 protocol to import patient records from the Hospital Information Systems (HIS), and then exports the study report back to the EMR system:
- Patient information is imported from the HIS to the Solar GI system.
- Following the motility study, the report is generated by the physician and/or RN.
- After final review, the study is transferred electronically in PDF format into the EMR.
- The Solar GI is a fully integrated system, with the ability to transfer patient test results from the MMS database to the HIS using the HL/7 protocol.
A full report with images and analysis is available almost immediately.
MMS's networking technology gives you:
- The capability to conveniently and safely transfer patient records to and from the Solar GI Motility system into the hospital/clinic network.
- The ability to export studies and reports in PDF format to a specific network location for access to the patient's records.
- A safe storage system for medical information by using the hospital/clinic backup services.
- Easier access and transfer options for all users of the GI Motility study report. Physician and nurses can read studies on their own computer as long as they have access to the hospital/clinic network.

In their own words...
One of MMS's 200 plus worldwide Solar GI networking customers says:
"I don't have to worry about all the paper, the patient is seen, and the test is stored on a network drive, which also ensures a second backup of our documents. It works wonderful and has been very helpful for our physicians here."
"Basically, a patient can have a test in our office and within the amount of time it takes to read the results, it can be available to the referring physician who also has access to the same EMR system anywhere in the Country." |
