Aurora's new bike!
Aurora Winslade (left), the manager of the Sustainability Office, recently bought a beautiful electric bike from the Chamber of Commerce fundraiser.  This picture is taking with Kieth (right), the builder of the bike and owner of the store Electric Sierra Cycles.  He built the bike as a memorial to his late wife and he donated it to the fundraiser in her honor.

ESLP Facilitation
Interested in facilitating your own course on sustainability and receiving course credit?  Become a facilitator for the Education in Sustainable Living Program (ESLP) and lead a section based on the sustainability topic of your choice!  You will receive five credits for the next two quarters of training and facilitation.  For more information, go to the ESLP website

Students for Sustainability Through Institutional Transformation and Engagement (SSITE)
SSITE is a group of motivated student leaders dedicated to the advocacy of sound environmental policy. SSITE will be meeting Thursdays, from 5-7PM, to discuss current events, put on educational and empowering workshops, and work on advocacy and outreach campaigns. Students with Chancellor The First Annual Sustainability Internship and Resource Fair
The UCSC Sustainability Internship and Resource Fair kicked off on November 1st at the Cowell Courtyard, with over 35 organizations tabling.  The fair provided students with job information, internship opportunities, organic food, and sustainability resources. In addition, a celebration was held for the newly LEED Green Building Certified Cowell/Stevenson Dining Hall.  To learn more about the LEED Celebration, click here.  A Reminder from UCSC Recycling Services
UCSC Recycling Services would like to remind students headed home for the holidays that this is a good opportunity to take home items you aren't using here in Santa Cruz.  If you have clothing or other usable household goods that you no longer want, please consider donating them to charity.

NewsUCSC Featured in Green-Energy Credits Report
EnergyNow, an energy and environment news network, selected UC Santa Cruz to feature in its investigation of green-energy credits, which was aired on television on November 21st. The report featured environmental studies professor and chair Daniel Press and highlighted the student-led ballot measure campaign to purchase renewable energy certificates. The National Wildlife Foundation's Campus Ecology Program is excited to announce their call for applications for their 2011 Campus Climate Fellowship Program!  The deadline in January 15th, for more information and to apply, please visit NWF's website.
