Let's Stay Optimistic!

Top I decided I would write an article for this month's newsletter.  I have chosen to address the fact that people are down because of the status of the economy, their lives, or other factors(North Korea's nuclear ambitions come to mind).

I personally find it very easy to be unhappy about certain things.  If I have a tough day at work, it can frustrate me long after I get home.

I always think of what I might have done wrong in a certain situation, what I should have (or should not have) said or done, and it makes you feel worse.

I believe I'm not the only one that has these feelings.  Many of you may feel the same way.  With that being said, how do we make ourselves feel better?

I have found two ways that snap me out of that funk(other than someone saying, "Snap out of it!").  The first is I ask myself, "What's the worst that could've happened?"  In some cases, the worst didn't happen; in other case, the worst really isn't that bad.

The second is I ask myself, "It's over - why spoil the rest of your day?"  I then realize that I can always move on to the next exciting thing.  That's all there is - don't let your past dictate what your future is doing.

What actions do you use to generate optimism in the face of adversity?  Feel free to discuss.

Nama Says

Nama      June 2nd marks a special day for Nama - it's my ninth anniversary here at Premier! Nine years and nine lives! When I first arrived here all those years ago the previous owners were here and the name of the dealership was Subaru of Branford.
I was hired to sell cars and learn how to do all the paperwork to deliver them. The place was not what it is today - I remember weeds growing between the cars on the lot. When Bob and Brian arrived in August we were developing a lengthy "we need" list.
Before you knew it we had more cars to sell, a cleaner weed free environment and lots of advertising. All that and new salespeople too. Stan arrived in September and the original Premier A Team was born.
Bill Kaik was the original A Team member. He had been here a number of years when I arrived. He was gregarious, warm hearted, and a hard worker who could literally sell ice to Eskimos, that swampland in Florida, or the bridge in Brooklyn. We spent many long days here- for a lot of that two months it was the two of us. Every day around 4ish Bill would ask me if I wanted the usual? The answer would always be yes as we had no time for lunch and he'd be back in a flash with a raisin bagel and Hazelnut coffee.
I'm sad to report that Bill passed away last month. His joy of life will be missed by anyone who knew him and we still miss hearing him say "Welcome to my world!"
Throughout the years here Nama has experimented with different hair styles and yes, I'll admit it, colors. At one point it was blonde and short, then it grew and was permed and had reddish highlights, then it went au natural and let that gray show through.
The size of clothes has gone up and down a few times too and as in anyone's life there have been good times and bad. Some of the best times were working the fairs we do - and some of the worst times were also working some of the fairs we do.
Through it all Bob and Brian have been great to work with and for- like a good marriage we have our ups and downs too. They always strive to do right by our customers - thank you all for being loyal.
Father's Day weekend kicks off the Branford Festival. Our booth will be moved to Town Hall Drive this year near the stage - stop by and say hi! Saturday night the Marshall Tucker Band will hit the stage and bring Southern rock to Branford.
The following week, the 27th are the fireworks at Branford Point - come early to hear the Town Band and hear Leon Collins, our MC, who is full of funny comments.
A big hearty birthday salute to Rich Johnson who blows out too many candles on the 23rd (Nama remembers his special day because it falls on her anniversary - 19 and counting). Happy birthday to all the rest of you celebrating this month.
Nama says to all those getting married - don't forget that your guests have no idea what you meticulously planned - if something's not just the way you planned it don't let it ruin your day - as long as your guests have plenty of food and drink and some music they're fine!
