CarcarePreparing Your Car for the Summer Months

Premier Subaru logo     After a winter that did not want to end, it is important to get your Subaru in tip-top shape for the summer months.  Spring is a good time to replace worn out wiper blades to increase visibility.  If wipers are torn, they can damage your windshield.  Also, have your antifreeze tested.  This prevents your coolant from boiling in the summer.

Make sure you check the condition of your tires as well as the tire pressures.  Temperature changes can affect tire pressure.  The amount of air in your tires can maximize your gas mileage and save wear and tear on them as well!

Around this time of year, allergies start to act up and we have the perfect solution!  The HEPA(High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance) filter in your vehicle should be changed once a year or every 7,500 miles to ensure quality air in the passenger compartment.  It captures mold, bacteria, spores, fungi, odors, organic and non-organic debris before they enter the passenger cabin of your Subaru.  Take advantage of this Allergy special today (see coupon section).

Spring is here!!!  It's been a long winter and the weather has finally broke, nights are not as cold and the mid-day sun is warming.  Spring break is over for the majority of students, so let the vacationing season commence!

To ensure safe travels, be sure all preparations are done.  Who's going to feed the cat, walk the dog and bring in the mail?  You would only trust these responsibilities to someone who is capable. So, if you are driving to your vacation destination, be sure to have your vehicles safety inspection performed by someone you trust as well.  An unexpected vehicle break down can ruin the best planned vacation itinerary.  Be sure to have your vehicle's maintenance up to date and all safety issues taken care of prior to departure.

Premier Subaru's service department recently performed a free vehicle safety inspection during the middle of the month of April.  Due to an overwhelming response, we will be extending the free inspection during the months of May & June to our customers who mention this article.  So if you're planning a trip or just feel you would like to take advantage of the situation, give us a call and make an appointment - we can couple the inspection with an oil change or any other service that may be required.

Don't forget to make your drive an enjoyable one.  Obviously, be sure to have things handy that will keep the passengers / children occupied.  One of the smartest things I did for a long drive to Florida with three children was to have a DVD player installed.  The kids watched movies and when they used the head phones, my wife and I were able to listen to the radio or CD's without any interruptions, almost as if they weren't there!  (ahh, as if)  Looking back on the trip, the DVD player was a key element to making the drive a pleasurable experience for us and them as well.  We also implemented a portable cooler that can plug in to the vehicle's power port doubling as a refrigerator.  This helped keep our snacks fresh and drinks cold, which cut down a on the amount of stops we would have had to make.

Also be sure to prepare for emergencies.  Premier Subaru offers roadside emergency kits which come equipped with all the essentials, road flares, emergency drinking water, etc.  We hope everyone has an opportunity to enjoy a break from the norm this season weather it be a vacation away or just relaxing here at home.

Nama Says

NamaBarb Mullen, Senior Sales Consultant here at the dealership, is referred to as "Nama" by many of her customers.

Nama says wait until you see what they've done to your Outback and Legacy up close! On tax day, Nama and Pops boarded the train to the Big Apple. Our destination - the New York Auto Show. Our mission - see the new Outback and Legacy for the first time.
Pops had never gone with Nama to the Auto Show so it was a big adventure. The first place we went was the Subaru display.  There they were on revolving pedestals flanked by cars open and available waiting for nosey Namas to pop open trunks, fold down seats, and inspect them head to toe.
The most noticeable improvement was the rear seat room and comfort of the seating back there.  Nama also fell in love with the new dash design - it just felt good sitting in them!
Anyone wishing a call or email when the first ones arrive here please email me at bmullen@premiersubaru.com.
Sensing Pops had had his fill watching Nama climbing in and out of cars we wandered around the Javitz Center. Nama says it felt flat this year - hardly any concept cars and fewer cars and vendors overall. After checking out the competition, Nama decided enough was enough.
There's a Navy ship a block or so away that was calling us and we answered. The U.S.S. Intrepid was built in 1943 and served her country well as an aircraft carrier in the Second World War. She also assisted in the space program picking up Scott Carpenter from the second manned Mercury flight and scooping up John Young and Gus Grissom from Gemini 3.
After that it was off for a stroll through Times Square and Rockefeller Center. We went to the Top of the Rock and shared a quiet moment looking out at where the Twin Towers had stood. A refreshing beverage down below as the skaters slid by and then it was back to Grand Central and the ride home.
Oh, we walked everywhere- no taxis, limos, or subways for us. And somehow we never found one of those really nice restaurants until after we had eaten at a not so nice one.
Anyone looking for a Memorial Day Parade to attend can come to Branford's on the 25th. The ceremony honoring those who served begins at 10 am with the parade stepping off at 10:30. Nama will be up front tooting her flute and trying not to get too choked up when we get to the Navy song in our military salute piece.
Brian E. Canell put on a fine performance as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls recently. Several Subie Divas attended the Saturday evening show and were wowed by his talent.
Happy birthday to all who celebrate this month and congratulations to all married couples sharing anniversaries.

Customer's Corner

Premier Subaru logoCustomersBob Alvine and Gary Christiansen,

I wasn't able to personally thank the technician who worked on my car (April 13), so I'm hoping you will convey my thanks to him.
As a recap, my car was due for its 60,000 mile check-up and I live in Danbury which is 1 hour,  10 minutes away from your office.  When I go there, I'm pretty much "stuck" there on that side of Connecticut, so I appreciated the use of the loaner car.  But yesterday, there seemed to be an unexpected delay and uncertainty as to whether my car would be ready by the end of the day which would have meant that I'd have to take the loaner car overnight Monday and return Tuesday morning.  Not a huge deal, but here is where I would like to extend my appreciation.  The technician worked on my car all day and stayed until after P.M. and was able to finish all the necessary work so I wouldn't have to come back.  And then even arranged to wash the car, which I wasn't even expecting due to the lateness!
I don't know much about mechanical issues, but I understand that the issue with my car was fairly complicated and probably wasn't an easy job to fix and was obviously time-consuming.
When people ask me why I drive such a distance to have service done at your facility, it's because I have complete confidence in you and I appreciate the great customer service and the fact that you are willing to go the "extra mile" with all transactions and arrange discounts whenever possible. It does not go unnoticed!
So, I would really appreciate it if you could please thank the technician(s) who took care of my car yesterday (Victor?  Dennis? - I'm not sure).  Also thanks to Angela (?) who stayed late as well.
You have a wonderful team there.

 - Ali Minasian

Dear Robert Alvine,

I was recently in the market for a car.  I prayed about it and decided to make my first stop at your dealership(Premier Subaru).  Little did I know it was going to be my only stop.  Your salesman Nicholas Stewart's mannerism, personality, and knowledge made me feel so comfortable.  I knew I came to the right place.  I got a great price and I didn't want to go anywhere else.  Buying a car should be an enjoyable experience, but sometimes it is not, because of pressure/attitudes, etc.  I got none of that from your dealership.  I will recommend Premier Subaru to my family and friends.
       A happy, satisfied customer.

closingDon't forget to check out our Courtesy Loaner Car Program - we currently have seven current model-year cars that you can use if you are in for a major service or for a major repair.  These vehicles are continuously checked by us to ensure that they provide you with safe transportation.  Also, if you have purchased from us, the use of these cars is absolutely free!  Please ask next time that you are in our service department for more details.
