Ride While You Can - Issue 2
|
Greetings Rider,
Wednesday evenings have become our official weekly company ride times - that is, when we meet up in the woods between our houses and go bash through the logged-out private timberland and maze of logging roads running through the National Forest. We test prototypes, talk about ideas and ride off the week's stresses. Great stuff - we highly recommend it! If you're going to be in our area this summer, give us a shout and we'll go ride! Go light, go fast, Dave & Harold Giant Loop MotoBend, Oregon

RIDER REVIEWS: Great Basin Saddlebag & Giant Loop Saddlebag
As riders are getting their new Great Basin Saddlebags, we're beginning to receive a steady flow of enthusiastic feedback, and the Giant Loop Saddlebag continues to equip riders for incredible adventures across six continents. Here are some recent highlights (and be sure to check out our blog for more, including BMW HP2, X-Challenge and more):
Rider: Jucifer Bike: KTM 525EXC Location: Lake Powell - dirt tour "For anyone that is wondering about the Giant Loop saddle bag, here it
is in all it it's glory. Huge thanks to Dave at Giant Loop. The bag
worked perfectly the entire trip." MORE
Rider: Nick Bike: Honda XR650 Location: Southern California Giant Loop Saddlebag Report: "The bags held up really well on our 500 mile trial run. Easy to install, did fine through the whoops, and no marks from the bikes being dumped a 3-4 times. Held all the gear we
needed, and we over packed. Each one of us had all the tools necessary
for trail repairs and all the spares and tubes doubled up. Next time we
can probably do this trip without back packs... just a small bladder pack
instead." MORE
Rider: Theproscloset Bike: BMW F800GS Location: Colorado Great Basin Saddlebag Report: "I got my bag last Friday, packed up the same day and went straight out. First off, I'm totally stoked. I was just going to be gone over night, but I put all my gear in it to
test it out. I had stove, pots, food, sleeping bag, toiletry kit, tire
irons, patch kit, street shoes, book, head lamp, warm clothes &
spares, other odds and ends, ya know the whole deal. I strapped my
2-person tent and camp chair on the back as well. I am planning on doing a 2 week Baja trip this fall and I am going to use my Great Basin." MORE
Rider: Packmule Bike: BMW F800GS Location: New Hampshire Great Basin Saddlebag Report: "Got my bag last week and put it straight to work last weekend. Rode 800
miles in two days including twisties, dirt roads, crappy pavement, and
a 150 mile roll charted dualsport ride. . . . This is the perfect bag set up for me. Totally neutral on the bike. The
only time I ever noticed it was trying to get way back on the seat
braking down a loose downhill. Other than that, it disappears (and
there's plenty of room to move around, just not to the extreme)." MORE
Riders: Mark & Carole Bikes: Kawasaki KLX250SF Location: Utah Great Basin Saddlebag Report: "We got our K bikes in their final configuration for our Alaska Trip. We
have been testing your Great Basin bags on these little bikes and they
actually make the bikes more stable with the load. They also provide a
little back support which is welcome. We won't be jumping the bikes
much, but we have been running them on gravel and singletrack. We
installed some triangle rings replacing the passenger pegs to provide a
secure lashing point on each side. They are packed out at 30lbs., and
other than our tail, tank and tool rolls we are going light, like your
motto." MORE
Rider: Bobzilla Bike: KTM 690e Location: California Giant Loop Saddlebag Report: "I found it worked just fine on my 2 week trip
camping. It does stay put and has no
worries. I will def. use it for a overnighter or 4 dayer but will
probably buy the Great Basin to have for the longer trips. I also use
the Giant Loop on my Husaberg so it does double duty. It is a bomb proof
set up. BTW, it only took about 5 minutes to remove completely from the bike and you can hardly see the mounting holes." MORE
