NEW EVENT - Evening on the Land, August 15

MCC working photo

The Gallatin Valley Land Trust will be hosting an exciting event this summer, which we hope you will consider being a part of.  This fundraising dinner and silent auction will be a celebration of the treasures and abundance of the surrounding land.  At the same time we want to remind everyone of the simple pleasures we all derive from living in the Gallatin Valley. One of the primary missions of the Gallatin Valley Land Trust is to conserve southwest Montana's heritage of open landscapes, working farms and ranches, healthy rivers, and wildlife habitat - all of which we will highlight during the Evening on the Land celebration.

This summer's event will be set on the beautiful property of Deborah Butterfield and John Buck.  We are going to showcase the bounty provided from local harvests while underscoring the advantage of simple farm to table sustainability.  Every effort will be made to work with local farmers, growers, and breweries in supplying delicious food and drink. Publicity materials will be selected from all post-consumer recycled goods. Local music will be on hand to entertain.  The experiences and items designed for the silent auction are an effort to highlight the activities and opportunities that surround us, along with the special talents of those who make Gallatin Valley their home.

STEWARDSHIP
MCC working photoWith the onset of summer, GVLT staff is beginning annual stewardship visits to the 73 easements we hold.  Meeting with every property owner and visiting more than 32,800 acres of land is a significant commitment, and GVLT has hired Brendan Moriarty to assist us throughout the summer.  He and Kate Wright, Stewardship Coordinator, will be crisscrossing Gallatin Valley and the surrounding communities all summer to check in with our landowners.  Brendan comes to us with masters degrees in Urban Planning and Public Policy, and is excited to contribute to GVLT's private land conservation work.
PHOTO CONTEST

What Value?

What value do you place on trails and open views? Did you know that fewer than 3% of households in Bozeman contribute to GVLT?  But just like public radio the community trail system is there for everyone to use, every day of the year.  Our scenic valley with its wildlife and productive farms contributes to our quality of life every day. What value do you place on community trails or an open view?  Is it worth 50 cents a day, a dollar a day?  Did you know that you can donate on-line with the option of making a contribution each month?  Break it up, make it automatic and you'll never notice.  Those small monthly contributions will make a huge difference to GVLT.  Try it now
