Greetings!
The 2009-2010 year is winding down, but there is still much going on.  See below for details.
Fall Course Proposals Needed!
Sign Up to Teach or Suggest a Course
Classes are the heart of the OLLI program.   For the past year, we have offered 80-90 courses during each quarter.  But so far, there are just 19 proposals submitted for Fall 2010, and the deadline for submission is May 21.  Contact Bob HIlton (541-488-0771) or Bill Hering (541-488-5886 ) if you need help formulating a proposal.  Proposal forms are available here.

An additional way members and prospective instructors can help ensure a vibrant curriculum next year is by participating in the Course Clearinghouse.  Use the Course Request Form (available in the Members Lounge and at the HEC) to request a repeat of a course or suggest a new topic. Prospective instructors can determine interest in a course by using the Course Proposal Form to provide a description of the topic for the course.  All members are encouraged to vote for the requested or proposed courses they are interested in taking by adding their initials underneath the respective course descriptions.
Annual Meeting & Ice Cream Social
Annual MeetingA Fun Event
Last year's Annual Meeting & Ice Cream Social attracted a huge turnout.  Sundaes and root beer floats will be offered again on Wednesday, May 19, starting at  3:30 pm.  Join us at the Presbyterian Church at Walker and Siskiyou in Ashland to meet the newly elected Council members, hear information about the future of OLLI, and enjoy an opportunity for fellowship with other OLLI members.
Community Forums/Lectures
Members and the community at large have been enjoying the weekly Community Lectures in Ashland and the monthly Community Forums in Medford.  Don't miss the remaining line up for this year.
Additional Medford Community Forum
As scheduled, on Monday, May 17, members of the Sanctuary One staff will introduce us to their very special place in the Applegate Valley where the human-animal bond is nurtured in a way that is healing for both.  Details here.  We are also excited to offer an additional Community Forum on Friday, June 4 with Jim Fredericks, the new Executive Director of the Britt Music Festival.  He will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the planning of the Festival, highlights of the 2010 season and insights into future directions.  Details here.  Both programs start at 10:00 am at the HEC and include free refreshments a half hour beforehand.
Free Bus Passes and a Bus Field Trip on May 26!
The Community Lecture on Wednesday, May 26 offers a great way to learn about public transportation in the Rogue Valley.  Kat Smith of RVTD will provide a tutorial and six free bus passes to each attendee to encourage use of RVTD. The program includes an optional bus field trip. Details here.  Dates and topics of the two other remaining Community Lectures provided here.
Forsyth on Health Care Reform
In case you missed John Forsyth's Community Lecture on Health Care Reform...2010, you may want to view the slides from his presentation.  This is a quick way to get up-to-date on recent developments.
