SOAL Kennerly Lecture April 15
ObamasRiveting Recent History at $5 Off!
As detailed in this Sunday's Mail Tribune, attendees at the upcoming Southern Oregon Arts and Lectures series program with David Hume Kennerly will be in for a treat.  This Pulitizer Prize winning photographer has been shooting on the front lines of history for more than 40 years. He has photographed eight wars, as many U.S. presidents, numerous entertainment figures, and has traveled to dozens of countries along the way.

On April 15 at 7:30 pm at the South Medford High School, Kennerly will show his iconic photographs (click here for more examples like the one shown at leftt) and provide a behind-the-scenes commentary on what he has witnessed during his long career.  Due to our partnership with SOAL series sponsor, Jackson County Library Foundation, OLLI members can receive a 20% discount on ticket prices by entering OLLIKEN in the discount code box when purchasing tickets via the www.jclf.org website.  You won't want to miss this event!

Chenjeri on de Tocqueville
April 15 Community Forum
de Tocqueville

In these turbulent times, many are looking to the comments of a 19th century Frenchman, Alexis de Tocqueville.  His monumental work Democracy in America remains one of the most illuminating and oft-quoted studies ever written on our system of government.  In our upcoming Community Forum, SOU Associate Professor of Philosophy Prakash Chenjeri will discuss "Is Democracy Achievable?  Lessons from Alexis de Tocqueville."

The program will be held on Monday, April 15 in the RCC-SOU Higher Education Center at 101 S. Bartlett Street from 10:00 am to noon and will be preceded by refreshments starting at 9:30 am.  This promises to offer an opportunity for a lively interactive discussion on how de Tocqueville informs public debate and democratic decision-making today.
