Greetings!
Seasons Greetings! During this holiday period, the OLLI office will be closed until December 30.  Winter quarter starts January 4 with an exciting roster of classes and special educational events. Many classes still have space, so check with the office when it reopens if you want a fuller schedule.

Community Lectures
June Rachles Has Outdone Herself
June
June is one of those unsung OLLI volunteers who labors in the background year after year, generating interesting topics and speakers for the weekly Wednesday afternoon Community Lecture series, formerly known as "One Shots."  She's scheduled a great line-up for this winter.

Jeff LaLande, Ph.D., SOU adjunct professor, kicks off the series by tracing the evolution of Southern Oregon's distinctive political history from the 1850's to the present.  Don't miss An "Ornery Tradition": A Political History of Southern Oregon on January 6 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in Room D, and mark your calendars for the other eight programs in this quarter's series.

Medford Community Forum Series
Connect with the Community

Willow Witt Ranch Barbara Stankus is the creative force behind the  topical Medford Community Forum series, held the third Monday of each month from 10:00 am to noon.  Refreshments are offered starting a half hour prior.

There will be no program on January 18, since OLLI is closed that day in honor of Martin Luther King Day, but there will be two fascinating programs this quarter: off-the-grid land stewardship by Willow-Witt Ranch on February 15 and the inner workings of a film festival as exemplified by Ashland Independent Film Festival on March 15. Details here.
SOU
Auditing SOU Classes
Free for Those 65+
SOU loves to have OLLI members audit classes! Your presence helps create an intergenerational learning environment, and also boosts SOU's "headcount" - a measure which the state uses to allocate funds to SOU.  People 65+ may audit classes tuition-free (those under age 65 pay regular tuition). It's easy to sign up: start with viewing the SOU class schedule online.  Here are some suggestions:

Art 199     CRN 5146   Introduction to Digital Media (Medford)
ArtH 205   CRN 4165  Art in Renaissance through Baroque Eras (Medford)
PE 180     CRN 4773  English and Scottish Country Dance (Ashland)
PE 180     CRN 5191  PE - Ski/Snowboard (Ashland)
NAS 270  CRN 4099  Introduction to Intertribal Dance (Ashland)

Once you've found a class that interests you, go to the OLLI office, the Division of Continuing Education office, or the HIgher Education Center welcome desk (in Medford) to receive assistance with obtaining instructor permission required for audits.  If necessary, you can request assistance with completing the registration form (also downloadable here). Winter term begins January 4; you can sign up to audit classes at either the Ashland or Medford campus December 30 through January 8.
