Fruitport Road construction

Spring Lake Township will be extending sanitary sewer service along Fruitport Road from Gildner Avenue to just past Minetta Street. No sewer work is planned for Minetta Street as part of this project.

The project is scheduled to begin the week of May 14. Work will generally be conducted between 7am and 7pm on Monday through Friday with possible work on Saturdays. The work is scheduled to be completed by June 15.

A detour will be established for local traffic using 148th Avenue and Hickory Street. Temporary access to Fruitport Road residents and businesses will be provided. The bike path will be closed in the work zone.

Local business update

MBiz.com is reporting that Herman Miller, in conjunction with VanderWall Brothers Concrete, has developed a process to mix scrap powder paint into the concrete counterweights used inside their office products. This process removes waste from landfills, and produces a concrete block with positive improvements. VanderWall Brothers are hoping to develop a process that will let them use all the powder paint scrap and use it in other products. Congratulations to both companies!
