Crusade for Toys

On December 2 and 3, the Spring lake Fire Department will be collecting toys for Crusade for Toys. Fire fighters will bring emergency equipment to local gas stations throughout the weekend, where they will collect toys from the public. If you would like to donate earlier, there is a collection bin at Township Hall until December 2. All toys collected stay in the Tri-cities area.

Schools beating the odds

Five schools in the Tri-cities area were recognized by the State for "Beating the Odds". The schools were chosen based on two studies. One study compared actual performance to predicted performance among schools with risk factors such as high poverty levels. The second study identified schools that outperformed a comparison group of schools with similar demographics.

The schools which are Beating the Odds are Holmes Elementary and Jeffers Elementary, both part of Spring Lake Public Schools, and Griffin Elementary, Lake Hills Elementary, and Peach Plains, which are part of Grand Haven Area Public Schools.

Congratulations to all those involved with making our schools great.

 Best Wishes,

Gordon Gallagher
