Rain Garden Demonstration

 

Spring Lake Township is installing a storm water retention system and rain garden in River Run Park on Leonard. There will be a public demonstration on Saturday, October 22, from 10am to 11am at the park.  There will be a demonstration and explanation about how the system works. Also discussed will be the benefits of storm water retention and rain gardens.

Ottawa County Water Quality Forum 

Ottawa County will hold its Sixth Annual Water Quality Forum on Friday, November 4 from 9am to 5pm at the Fillmore Complex. You must register by October 21, and registration is limited to 150 people. The Forum gives participants the opportunity to learn more about water initiatives and water research, and allows networking of interested individuals.

Government Operations 
 
The US Census Bureau has issued their annual survey of public employment and payroll. As the Michigan Townships Association press release notes, Michigan local government operations are among the most efficient in the nation. As indicated in the report, Michigan provides local government services by employing 12.2 full time equivalent employees per 1000 residents. By comparison, Spring Lake Township is providing services with 1.7 full time equivalent employees. Spring Lake Township is committed to providing quality service to residents in a cost-effective manner.

Fall Leaf Drop Off

Spring Lake Township residents may drop off leaves at the DPW building, 16747 150th Ave.  The site will be open October 19 through November 16. Leaves in biodegradable bags may be dropped off between 2pm and 4pm on Wednesdays, and between 10am and 4pm on Saturdays.
