Bike to Work Week

This week is Bike to Work Week Ride your bike to work ano or all of the days. See the Bike to Work website for more information.

The Annual Ride of Silence will be held on Wednesday, May 18, beginning at 7pm. Registration begins at 6:40pm. Meet in Central Park behind Ace Hardware on Savidge Street. The ride is a slow-paced 8-mile silent ride in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. Contact Mark Stoll for more information.

Spring Cleanup
Thank you to the students of Holmes and Jeffers Schools in Spring Lake. These students celebrated Earth Day 2011 by picking up litter along the bike paths in Spring Lake Township and Village. The event was coordinated by the Parents Club, and took place on Wednesday evening, May 4.

This year, the students were assigned to various sections of the bike paths and transported there by parent volunteers. The litter was transported back to a central dumpster to allow the students to view the amount of litter they collected.

The bike paths are looking great! The students did a wonderful job. Thanks to everyone who participated and made Spring Lake an even better place to live.

Energy-efficient Lighting

The Grand Haven Board of Light and Power has installed 5 induction lights on West Spring Lake Road, starting at the Township limit and heading north. They're considering whether to continue to install them along West Spring Lake Road in their next budget.

If you're in the area, check out the new lights. Let Gordon Gallagher know your opinion. He'll pass comments along to the Board of Light and Power.

 Best Wishes,

Gordon Gallagher
