2011/2012 Budget Public Hearing 
 

The Public hearing for the 2011/2012 budget will be held at the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees on Monday, March 14 at 7pm.

The Annual Meeting of the Electors will be held at 6pm on Monday, March 28. Following that meeting, the Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting to adopt the General Appropriations Act.

 

All meetings will be held at Township Hall.

Be Involved with Your Government 
  
In addition to contacting the Spring Lake Township government, you are encouraged to contact your State and Federal representatives. Legislators want to have your input on issuesand usually respond quickly. Contact information is included below, or you can contact John Nash, Spring Lake Township Supervisor and he will pass on your concerns. He is in regular contact with State and Federal representatives and finds them interested and responsive.

Phragmites Information

 

There will be a meeting on Wednesday, March 23 at 6:30 pm to discuss phragmites, an invasive species which is becoming more common in the Tri-Cities area. The meeting will be held at Spring Lake District Library.

Lubbers Cup Regatta 

 

On April 2, GVSU Rowing hosts the annual Lubbers Cup Regatta from the Spring Lake Yacht Club. The races run from 8 a.m. until the awards ceremony at 2:00 p.m.

 

Competing this year are the cadets from the US Coast Guard Academy (New London, CT), Dad Vail Champions and Henley Royal Regatta (UK) finalists - Brock University (Canada), University of Virginia who is ranked as one of the top three club schools in the USA, as well as the regular fast crews from Michigan including GVSU, Michigan State University, and University of Michigan, along with Ohio State University and other competitive Midwest crews.

Consumer Reports has a timely article with tips on how to get rid of almost anything. Before throwing someting in the trash, consider whether there is another way to dispose of it. For items you wish to recycle or dispose of, see our Sustainability page for links to recycling and waste disposal in Ottawa County.
  
  
  
Also, remember that the next Burn Day is March 19. You must have a permit, and leaves may not be burned. You must call the Fire Department at 844-0491 on March 19 before beginning to burn. If you have questions, please call Township Hall at 842-1340.
