Thank you, Shape Corporation!
Shape Corporation again provided time for their employees to assist Spring Lake Township. Last year the employees assisted with the removal of the old fencing at the Cemetery. This year the employees re-stained the picnic shelters at Rycenga Park and also re-stained picnic tables. The work that was done benefits our community greatly. We appreciate that Shape Corporation and their employees give back to the community!

| Community Involvement
September 18 is a great day to get involved in our community.
Relay for Life:
For the fifth year Spring Lake Township is sponsoring a Relay for Life team to raise funds for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. If you would like to donate to this cause, contact Denise North at 844-2108 or dnorth@springlaketwp.org. The Relay for Life will be held at White Pines Middle School from 9am Saturday, September 18 through 9am Sunday, September 19.
Oktoberfest Races:
Another opportunity to be involved is the Oktoberfest Races at Old Boys Brewhouse. There is a Boston Certified marathon and a 5K walk or run. All proceeds benefit the Faith Marie Losee fund of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation, to provide neonatal equipment to local West Michigan hospitals in memory of Faith Marie. More information can be found at http://www.oktoberfestmarathon.com/
Homeless Shelter Project
Love, Inc. is in the running for a Pepsi Refresh Project grant to create a homeless shelter in Grand Haven. The idea with the most votes gets $50,000. To support the Love, Inc. project, vote at

Bike Safety
As students head back to school and the weather cools down, more bikes are expected to be on the roadways and bike paths. Everyone needs to be careful and aware.
Drivers - watch for bikes on the bikepaths crossing driveways. Remember that bikes have the right to share the road and should be treated courteously.
Bikers - watch for cars in driveways and roadways. Remember that while you are allowed to share the road, you are also subject to the rules of the road.
With cooperation, everyone will arrive safely at their destination. |
