Greetings!

It's been a wild week for the Township. Like everyone, Township Hall is just starting to return to a more normal operating mode. It appears that everything, including email, is working again. If you emailed a Township employee and haven't received an answer, please re-send the email and know you will get a reply soon. Email access has just been restored as of Thursday morning.

A big thank you goes out to our Fire Department and DPW for all of their efforts to maintain a safe community and for keeping our water and sewer systems operating during the power disruptions. Many worked almost all night Sunday and Monday to help our residents.

Brush cleanup for Township areas outside the Village may be handled by your waste hauler. There are also many independent contractors who are able to assist with clean-up efforts. Branches may be burned on our next burn day, September 19. A permit is required before you can burn. Call 842-1340 for information about permits. Also, people who heat with wood would be glad to come cut and remove your trees. Call Township Hall for more information.
Zoning Open House

A thorough review and rewrite of the Zoning Ordinance is nearing completion. An open house to review changes will be held on August 26, 7pm to 9pm at Barber School. Join us and see what the new ordinance will look like. Refreshments provided!

North Bank Trail

As part of the process of applying for a grant for the construction of the North Bank Trail, the Township will be making a presentation to the State Natural Resources Trust Fund on August 19 in Lansing. It's hoped that assistance for funding for the Township portion of the trail can be found.

For more information about the North Bank Trail, see the Township website.

Foreclosure Help

Ottawa County has developed a Foreclosure Prevention web page. If you know anyone who is having problems paying either their mortgage or their taxes, information is available. There are also links to additional services from the County's page.

Best Wishes,
