Ottawa County Seeks Citizen Input

Ottawa County will be hosting five citizen budget meetings throughout the county in the month of May. The budget meetings will provide citizens with the opportunity to learn more about the budget and services of Ottawa County while also providing feedback to the Board of Commissioners on what service areas should remain a priority in 2010
and beyond.

Four of the meetings will be held in each quadrant of the county, starting at 6 P.M. and ending around 7:30 P.M. For those that cannot attend an evening event, the county will also hold a meeting on Saturday, May 2nd, starting at 10 A.M. at the centrally located Fillmore Street facility. Each event will include a presentation by county staff discussing the county's fiscal condition, budget and services,
and economic outlook. The presentation will be followed by citizens working in small groups to answer questions about how Ottawa County should look towards the future. The meetings will conclude with citizens ranking general service areas.
Information about the event, including a Budget-In-Brief, is available on miottawa.org. County officials encourage those planning to attend the forums to go online and review the information available prior to the event. Visitors to the site will also find an area where they can leave feedback for the county if unable to attend the events. Information gathered from the five forums will be compiled and presented to the Board of Commissioners during the budget process. The input from citizens will serve as another tool for the Board.

Saturday, May 2nd: Ottawa County Administrative Offices, 12220 Fillmore St., West Olive
Monday, May 4th: Spring Lake District Library, 123 E. Exchange St., Spring Lake
Tuesday, May 12th: Herrick District Library, 300 S. River Ave., Holland
Wednesday, May 13th: Georgetown Ice Center, 8500 - 48th St., Hudsonville
