Walking Your Talk, Living Your Truth
Greetings! ,
To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being
wrong. ~ Joseph Chilton Pearce
Reading,
studying, accumulating information is step one in your becoming. Actually putting what you accumulate into
action is the critical second step:
walking your talk.
When we talk to others, we are sending out information in
these proportions: vocally, visually and
verbally. Vocal and visual proportions
make up 93% when it comes to being believed and the verbal part, the words we
merely say, are the lowest percentage - 7%. If our commitment due to having
used what we speak about isn't there, folks don't believe us.
If you are not successful in walking what you talk, it's
a high likelihood that you have Issues With Either Fear Or Lack Of Motivation.
You'll be happy to know that you can get
past those fears so you can begin to walk your talk. This is the wonderful advise I've followed
from M. Gandhi.
-
Take an honest inventory of what you fear. Face the
fear down and once you're past it, you'll discover it wasn't so fearful after
all. Then you can walk your talk and Be
the Change.
- Make your goals into reasonably achieved smaller steps.
Create a celebration when you get to a specific goalpost. Keep track of what
you've accomplished, not what's remaining.
- Choose a friend who will keep you accountable and help
you celebrate. You can walk the talk together.
Here are some examples of Things You Might Be Afraid Of
that would stop your forward progress:
-
Fear of failure - If you try and you fail, you may
think this is worse than not even starting. It isn't.
-
Fear of success - You may think that maintaining a
success with others looking on will be too difficult.
-
Fear of rejection - You might think your friends or
associates at work will be jealous of
you and shun you if you become too successful
-
Fear of role-loss - You might have to step outside your
norm and it will be uncomfortable.
Moving onto Your Walking Path for Success at Work
My hero, Gandhi, said "Become the change you wish to see
in the world." Beginning to walk your talk is the quickest way to
experience success at work and it has always worked for me.
-
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Adopt the successful behavior of others.
-
Follow the rules or the processes currently in
place. If you can see a better way,
suggest it.
-
Don't promise anything that you know you cannot
fulfill. Your word must be trustworthy
and your "steps" must demonstrate that your word is valuable.
The world of achievement has always belonged to the
optimist. ~ J. Harold Wilkins
Ready, right foot first.
Begin that walk.
Warmly,
Maria
