10 Free Kid-Friendly Activities on Bainbridge Island
1. Geocache Bainbridge Island and discover hidden treasures, as well as fantastic walking trails on Bainbridge Island. This is the most fun kids (and adults) can have without going to Disneyland! Log on to this website http://www.geocaching.com and download coordinates onto your GPS. Let the games begin! A world of adventure awaits, with a treasure box (cache) at the end of each excursion. Just remember geocache etiquette....bring a small interesting item to exchange when you find the cache! If you forget to bring an item to exchange, don't take anything out of the stash box!
2. Battle Point Park

The Island's Premier Playground for kids, built by an army of volunteers at Kid's Up.
While you are at Battle Point Park, walk on the trail and read the kiosks...they are really interesting! Look for wild bunnies, and feed the ducks in the beautiful pond. Battle Point Park ranks high on the list of kid-friendly activities...an island favorite.
3. Take a Farm Tour
Trust for Working Landscapes conducts Farm Tours of city-owned farmland. Upcoming tours can be viewed at www.TrustforWorkingLandscapes.org, Warning...this tour might make your babies want to grow up to be farmers! Also, be sure to check out the Harvest Fair in September at Johnson Farm.
4. Fay Bainbridge State Park
Beach comb during a minus tide, build a sand castle, fly a kite, enjoy the playground, pack a picnic lunch. For a few bucks, you can camp overnight.
5. Grand Old Fourth of July Parade
Downtown Winslow - This tradition has been going for more than 42 years! The 2009 theme is Celebrating Our Green Isle, with Eco-Friendly Floats. Contact Liz at the Chamber of Commerce at (206) 842-3700 if you would like to march in the parade; everyone is welcome!
7. Ride a Bike
The new Forest to Sky Trail from Grand Forest to Battle Point Park is well maintained, with easy/moderate terrain.
8. Go Kayaking
Eagle Harbor and Manzanita Bay are favored by families with children, because of calm waters and easy launch access. To kayak in Eagle Harbor, launch at the city dock at Waterfront Park. For Manzanita Bay, launch at Dock Street. Maps are available at the Visitor Center at the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce.

Suyematsu Farm's Pumpkin Patch is an Island Tradition! In addition to pumpkins, there is a corn maze, hay bale maze, tractor rides, squash, ornamental corn, corn stalks and a gorgeous view.
