11:20 Presentation by Joe Deets of Community Energy Solutions Solar for Sakai Project - a community project that generates local green power, provides valuable educational tools, and saves energy dollars now and for future generations.
As a bold first step in moving our culture away from fossil fuel dependence, Community Energy Solutions is placing cutting-edge solar panels on the roof of Sakai Intermediate School. With no moving parts, noise, or pollution, the solar energy system will convert sunshine into electricity for decades to come.
The system not only saves Sakai Money, it generates revenue because the school is paid for all the electricity it produces. The savings and revenue are then reinvested by the school to enhance our children's education and implement futher saving measures.
Solar for Sakai means more than just "watts". In addition to creating valuable electricity from clean, renewable source - the sun, it functions as an on-site educational tool for all the students, teachers, staffs as well as the public. Sakai teachers use the project to facilitate real-life learning across the curriculum. With planned online monitoring of the energy produced and carbon emissions avoided, everyone can learn about local renewable energy.
