ECO VILLAGE - An Interactive Trade Show Featuring GREEN PRODUCTS & SERVICES

Sakai Intermediate School, aka ECO VILLAGE, will be the kickoff location for the ECO TOUR.
 
However, ECO VILLAGE is a destination of itself.  The first ever interactive trade show, featuring Green Products and Services, is free to the public, and full of family friendly activities and fun events.
 
11:00 am, Sakai Students will perform a skit demonstrating the effectiveness of solar energy, in celebration of the new Solar Panel Project at Sakai.  Joe & Tammy Deets of Community Energy Solutions will be on hand to answer questions.
 
Other presentations throughout the day include...
 Woodward Middle School Students will present a wonderful show about Watersheds
 
2:00 Bainbridge Island Garden Club will help kids decorate their own pots, and then plant their own terrariums
 
All day long, get your Un-Driving License.  This fun event, presented by Sustainable Ballard, allows kids of all ages to get their un-driving license - to reduce car use whenever possible.

RENOWNED SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTS and DESIGNERS FEATURED ON BAINBRIDGE ISLAND ECO TOUR
 
Adding to the excitement of the first ever Eco Tour on Bainbridge, local architects & designers will be on hand to give presentations and answer questions.
 
Award-winning Architect, Matthew Coates, AIA, LEED AP is the recipient of the 2005 Cradle 2 Cradle Home Innovation Design Competition. Coates Design, Inc. creates sustainable and environmentally sensitive solutions for specific design or building needs.  Matthew Coates will showcase his current Platinum LEED home (which is under construction.)  This is a rare opportunity to peek into the construction process before the walls are closed up. This exciting new project is the greenest of green on Bainbridge Island.
 
Peter O'Connor, AIA founded O'Connor Architects, PLLC on Bainbridge in 1980.  His company is committed to sustainable "green" LEED design and timeless and enduring solutions that are well designed, innovative, and within budget.  O'Connor will be onhand to show his multi-award-winning Inn at Vineyard Lane project.

 
Molly McCabe, AKBD, founded A Kitchen that Works on Bainbridge Island in 2002.  She is a Board Member of Sustainable Bainbridge and the Olympic West Sound Chapter of the National Kitchen & Bath Association, and a frequent contributing writer to West Sound Home and Garden magazine.  Ms. McCabe will feature her personal residence, which was deconstructed, recycled and rebuilt to Three Star Built Green standards.   For the Eco Tour, she is teaming with architect Miles Yanick, AIA, LEED AP, deconstruction expert David Bennink of Re-Use Consulting, Kathleen O'Brien, LEED AP of O'Brien & Company, and color consultant Melissa Andersen of All in the Details.
