You might think that winter is too cold for camping but what we have
noticed is that many people appreciate exploring our Reserve in all
seasons. In truth, we become healthier, and our children, also, when we
spend time outdoors, even in rain and snow and wind and cold. As long
as we are dressed for the weather and can dry off when we come inside
then radical weather is not a bad think. As a matter of fact, during
the winter you can still:
Hike, bike, go off roading with 4X4 or side-by-sides, walk the largest
labyrinth in California, take a nap, game at the casino, enjoy a
campfire, cook outside, celebrate the full moon, see the incredible
blanket of stars, watch clouds dancing across the sky, read a book,
talk with friends, rent the clubhouse for a private party, go on photo
safari, journal, participate in a jam session, dance, carve your own
pumpkin, plant bulbs and plant a tree! Unlimited play! |

Advice from the Purple Mountain Sage
To increase your enjoyment of living:
1. "A
baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll
smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the
future worth living for." (Anonymous)
2. For crayon marks, spilled candle wax, and residue left from tape and other adhesive, dab with mineral oil and wipe gently with a rag. Mineral oil is the main ingredient of many commercial products that advertise the removal of greasy wax stains and marks.
3. CrockPot Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 2 cups milk (I used 1%)
- 2 T canned pumpkin
- 2 T white sugar
- 2 T vanilla (not a typo. it asks for tablespoons)
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- OR: 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/8 tsp cloves, 1/8 tsp nutmeg, and a teeny tiny pinch of ground ginger
- 1/2 cup brewed espresso or 3/4 cup strong brewed coffee
- garnish with whip cream (optional)
Directions: This will make enough for 2 people to have a big mug with a bit leftover. Add the coffee/espresso and milk to the crockpot. Whisk in the pumpkin, spices, sugar, and vanilla. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours if everything is cold. Whisk again. Ladle into mugs, and garnish with whipped cream and additional cinnamon. [Make it Fast, Cook it Slow, Stephanie O'Dea]
