Advice From The Purple Mountain Sage To increase your enjoyment of living:
1. "Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once."
2. "I am what you make me; nothing more. I swing before your eyes as a bright gleam of color, a symbol of yourself." - Franklin K. Lane. Flag Day, June 14 - the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777 - was officially established by the Proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson on May 30th, 1916. While Flag Day was celebrated in various communities for years after Wilson's proclamation, it was not until August 3rd, 1949, that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day.
3. Turn a peach or nectarine into a frozen delight (try it with lemon or any other citrus fruit too). Slice off the top, then remove the flesh (including pit, if necessary). Scoop 1/4 or 1/3 cup sorbet into a sealable plastic bag (add the pulp and/or a splash of vodka if you like); knead until smooth. Snip a corner off the bag and squeeze mixture into the fruit. Cover in plastic wrap and place in the freezer for three hours or overnight. Enjoy! (©Parenting magazine, August 2008) | |
