Can You Help?
-- Madison Marathon will donate $8.00 to us for each hour you volunteer to help at their event over Memorial Day weekend. Just sign up at their volunteer site and choose Badger Childhood Cancer Network as your organization!-- We are always in need of new coloring books, baby board books and blank hardcover journals for our New Diagnosis bags. We need colors and subjects that could appeal to either a boy or a girl, since we pack the bags by age but not gender. Donations can be dropped off at our office on Segoe Road.

The Spring Party
brought LOTS of smiles!
Who can stifle the urge to jump, climb, and play when it's 80 degrees on St. Patrick's Day?
We enjoyed rope climbing, tumbling, skee-ball, electronic bowling, the jumping pit, ping-pong, bingo and more at Legacy Academy in Fitchburg! Kids and parents painted miniature birdhouses and tried their hand at balloon twisting. Many thanks to our energetic and fun volunteers from UW's Kappa Psi pharmacy fraternity. At the end of the party, the Kappa Psi members posed with some of the kids to present Party Chair Elizabeth Sieger with a check for $200 that they raised selling bagels! Childhood Cancer Awareness
Blood Drive Wednesday, April 25
Most kids and teens with cancer need very aggressive chemotherapy which affects their ability to make red blood cells and platelets, so they receive a lot of blood products. Many kids with sickle cell disease also need red blood cell transfusions to stay healthy and avoid painful and dangerous effects of their disease.
A very special mom, Robyn Jeffords, has organized a Childhood Cancer Awareness Blood Drive at Prairie Creek Church 6484 N. Bird St in Sun Prairie on Wednesday, April 25th from 1 to 6 pm. You can save a life in two ways: 1) give a pint of precious whole blood (you'll get cookies!) to save a life locally and 2) get your cheek swabbed to join the Bone Marrow Registry and potentially save the life of someone anywhere in the world. Please give blood and please spread the word! Download the flyer with all the information about the Blood Drive and print or email it to share.

Dear Friends--
This spring and summer we are greatly blessed to have fundraisers being conducted on behalf of BCCN by generous organizations and businesses that reflect so many of the relaxing and fun activities available in our beautiful part of the country. You can support area families of kids and teens with cancer by taking part in bowling, archery, bass fishing and putting your sneakers on to volunteer at the Madison Marathon. And of course, we hope you will come out to run or walk with Olympian Suzy Favor Hamilton at the 6th annual Suzy's Run/Walk on Labor Day weekend to honor and remember the courage and grace of kids who are fighting cancer in our area.
Please help us spread the word. Can you forward this newsletter to at least one friend or relative who might want to FISH, BOWL, SHOOT or RUN to make life easier for local kids with cancer and blood disorders? THANK YOU!
Anne Spurgeon Executive Director
