     Meets January 29th

Families of kids who've been treated for cancer and serious blood disorders - have you been looking for the opportunity to serve and support other families?  You can help decide what programs and services are most needed for kids and families and learn about opportunities to volunteer.  We need your input and your help!

Please attend the meeting at 2pm on Sun, Jan 29th in Madison at the Italian Workmen's Club at 914 Regent Street.  Call Anne at 608-231-8006 or email info@badgerchildhoodcancer.org for more information.  If you can't attend this meeting but would like to get involved and help make a difference, let us know!

Italian Workmen's Club donates funds to
help kids with cancer

The Italian Workmen's Club of Madison dedicated the proceeds of their 2011 annual golf outing to Badger Childhood Cancer Network through their charitable arm, the Greenbush Heritage Foundation. We are greatly honored to accept this very generous donation!   The Italian Workmen's Club's mission is to preserve the memories and heritage of the Greenbush neighborhood in Madison, and to share with the community the values and traditions that made Italians such a special part of American heritage.  Learn more about the IWC at their website, www.iwcmadison.com

St. Maria Goretti Giving Tree
makes holidays brighter for area families

Members of St. Maria Goretti Parish purchased and donated nearly 50 gift cards from their Giving Tree in December to provide families of kids on active treatment with gifts, groceries, gas and other household basics.  This is a wonderful help for families who have struggled with a lot of expenses this year and who deeply appreciate knowing that there are members of the community keeping them in their hearts and thoughts this holiday season.
P4 Staff Holiday Bake Sale Benefits
Family Assistance Fund

Staff of the P4 unit at American Family Children's Hospital hosted a spectacular Holiday Bake Sale at UW Hospital and Clinics on December 22nd!  They raised over $1100 to provide help for families with children in acute treatment who are struggling to pay for car repairs and other transportation expenses, utility bills, rent or mortgage, groceries and other basic needs.  We are so thankful for the dedication and compassion of this wonderful group of professionals!

Spring Party March 17th - Mark Your Calendar!

Get ready to bounce into Spring on St. Patrick's Day!

The Saturday before the official start of the season we'll have our annual Spring party at
Legacy Academy in Fitchburg
at 3 pm.  Wii games, climbing and playing in the gym, crafts, Bingo - something for everyone!

We're looking for photos of kids
with their Hero Beads!

Do you have a photo of your child or teen with their Hero Beads?  We would like to have more photos to help show what Hero Beads mean to real kids. The photos may be used on our web site, in our  brochure or in the newsletter.

If you would like to share your photos showing a young person's cancer journey through their Hero Beads, we'd love to see them and use them to inspire others.  Please email your photos and a short note giving us permission to use them to info@badgerchildhoodcancer.org.   Postal mail works fine, too.  THANK YOU!

Happy New Year!  Stay warm, stay healthy and have fun!

All the best-
