Fishing Day

Kids' Fishing Day
Made Kids Smile!

Thanks to the generosity of some great fishing guides who offered their time, talents and fishing boats, a group of kids had a very special day on Sunday, June 5th!  Each parent/child pair got to go out on Lake Waubesa with their own experienced boat pilot and fishing guide, learned the ins and outs of lake fishing and then gathered back in Goodland County Park for a cookout hosted by Xerox Corporation.

Kids' Fishing Day has been hosted by Yahara Fishing Club for well over a decade, giving kids with life-threatening illnesses a unique opportunity to have a carefree, fun experience on water.  Each kid brought home a fishing pole and tackle box in hopes that they will continue to enjoy fishing for many years to come!

Many thanks go to event coordinator Chris James and the event sponsors, including Don's Marine LLC, Dane County Parks, Xerox Corporation, the Madison Fishing Expo, Yahara Fishing Club Volunteers, Wisconsin Sign and Graphics, LLC, the Dane County Conservation League and some of the Best Local Volunteer Fishin' Guides in the Area!

Grateful Thanks to

these Recent Donors!

Fertile Hope
A Web Site Providing Fertility Information for Cancer Survivors

Crawling baby and parents

Many children and adolescents with cancer receive aggressive treatments that have the potential to affect their ability to have children in the future. Survivors need good information to make important life choices in the years and decades after treatment.  Fertile Hope is a national LIVESTRONG initiative dedicated to providing reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility.

Information on the site includes a fertility resource guide, a risk calculator, an options calculator and information on financial assistance.

Cindy Hero Bead Brochure

BCCN volunteer Cindy Lovell photographed all 48 Hero Beads and created a great illustrated brochure for us!  You can get a copy of the brochure at the BCCN office, in the F4 lounge at AFCH or in the peds heme-onc clinic.  All the beads are now illustrated on our Hero Beads Web Page, too.  Thanks, Cindy!
