Get to Know a Kid Fighting Cancer
John
John is in 8th grade and is a multi-sport athlete. He was diagnosed with an atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor of the spine in the summer of 2009. Just three more months of chemo left! John notes in an email that he actually managed to play football last year as a running back and linebacker. How's that for tough? His hero is a football player, too - Brett Favre. John says that he tries to do as much stuff as he can with friends and sports. He has two dogs, Ginger and Sidney, and a great family.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind childhood cancer survivors and their families that each week a couple of new families at AFCH find out that their child or teen has cancer. They often want to talk with someone who has been through the experience already, or see photos of a young survivor to give them hope. If you're willing to let us share your name and contact information with another family, please respond to this email and let us know the best way(s) to contact you. Include any relevant information about your experiences that you think might help us match you with someone. Thanks in advance for shining your light for new families joining us on this path!
You can keep up with Capital Candlelighters by joining us on Facebook. Click the blue Facebook button on the left and 'like' us!
