Greetings from the Capital Candlelighters' Office!

We're busy with party planning (by the time you read this, the Halloween party will just be over) and keeping the supply of New Diagnosis Bags, gas cards, Hero Beads, books and emergency assistance flowing.  Thanks for all you do to help make those important programs successful!

Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but it looks like a group of our moms is determined to rustle up community support to make the annual Holiday Party happen this year for families of kids still in active treatment.  Invitations will go out in mid-November.  Their committee could use volunteers before and during the party, so send me an email if you'd like more information or if you'd like to help and I'll forward it to them.

I'll be attending the national Candlelighters' Affiliate Conference in Austin, Texas in early March, and I have the good fortune to be on the committee setting the agenda for the conference.  Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation was formed by a group of parents in 1969-70, so it's in its 40th year of  providing information and support to the families of young people with cancer. What would you like us to be talking about at the conference?  Where do you think Candlelighters should be focusing its energies in the upcoming decade?

WANTED:  People Willing to 'Adopt a
Family' for the Holidays
Wrapped Gift
Kids can't fight cancer alone, and neither can their families, especially those with huge looming medical expenses or a parent who has had to quit working to care for a critically ill child.

Help us make sure that every family whose child is undergoing treatment for cancer in south-central Wisconsin has gifts under the tree and food on the table this winter.  Can you donate a grocery card, discount or department store card or gas card?  We will put your gift directly in the hands of a family in need.

If your family or business would like to make a donation in honor of a special individual or client, we will send that person a card letting them know you have made a holiday donation in their name to help a local child with cancer.

Call Anne at 608-231-8006 for more information.
Best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving to all the families and friends of Capital Candlelighters.  Get over the river and through the woods safely, and stay away from the flu!

Sincerely,

Anne Spurgeon
