Meet Our
Honorary Starters

the cancer-fighting kids who led us off on
Suzy's Run/Walk!

Abby (center of the photo, on Suzy's lap) is 4.  She loves Dora, doggies and giggling with her sister Sarah!
Caitlynn (in the tiara) is 6.  She loves the color PINK, writing stories and making beautiful things.
Tristan (front center) is 10. He was born on the 4th of July--a real firecracker!  He is in 5th grade and his favorite subject is math.  He belongs to 4-H and shows pigs at the Rock County Fair.

Super siblings in the photo are Kelsea (top left), Sarah and Wade (right center), Peter and Katie (front).

WANTED:  People Willing to 'Adopt a
Family' for the Holidays
Wrapped Gift
Kids can't fight cancer alone, and neither can their families, especially those with huge looming medical expenses or a parent who has had to quit working to care for a critically ill child.

Help us make sure that every family whose child is undergoing treatment for cancer in south-central Wisconsin has gifts under the tree and food on the table this winter.  Can you donate a grocery card, discount or department store card or gas card?  We will put your gift directly in the hands of a family in need.

If your family or business would like to make a donation in honor of a special individual or client, we will send that person a card letting them know you have made a holiday donation in their name to help a local child with cancer.

Call Anne at 608-231-8006 for more information.
Important Notes:

Candlelighters Families:  We are sorry to inform you that we will not host a Holiday Party in December 2009.  To best carry out
our mission this year we need to concentrate our resources on helping families in greatest financial need with basic living expenses and holiday gifts.  The party is always so much fun, but this year we don't feel we can justify the expense involved in providing prizes, entertainment and gifts for 130
or more children and their parents on one day. We intend to bring the party back for 2010!   So, if you want to socialize with other Capital Candlelighters kids and their families this year, make sure to attend the Halloween Party on October 31st!

In happier news, we just found out that Capital Candlelighters has been chosen by advertising agency Knupp and Watson as a Goodstock 2009 participant!  During their 24 hour marathon on October 15-16, they will donate their time and talents to develop marketing tools that will help us increase our community name recognition and fund raising ability.  It is much needed, and we are very grateful to have been chosen.

Sincerely,

Anne Spurgeon
