It's time to start forming your team for the 3rd annual Suzy's Run/Walk for Capital Candlelighters! Honorary Race Chair Suzy Favor Hamilton invites serious runners, casual runners, strollers, joggers, trotters and plodders to come out to support area kids with cancer at Vilas Park on Sunday, September 27th.

You Should Know . .
So far in 2009 (as of mid-May) Capital Candlelighters has provided more than $20,000 in financial assistance and gas cards to the families of children treated for cancer at American Family Children's Hospital.

Special Activity for June:
A
team of UW Physical Therapy graduate students will come to our June 3rd
meeting to discuss and demonstrate their new guide for maintaining and
regaining physical strength and balance for childhood cancer patients. At our monthly gathering, kids and teens do activities, play mini-golf and arcade games with our great volunteers from the UW Occupational Therapy graduate program. Adults have time to relax, share ideas and experiences and support one another.

Student OT Association Class of 2009 Makes Generous Gift to Capital Candlelighters
Our monthly family group enjoys the lively presence of volunteers from the UW Student Occupational Therapy Assoc. to engage and entertain the young people who attend our meetings. Capital Candlelighters was greatly honored to be chosen by the SOTA class of 2009 for a very generous $2000 donation. The class presented the check at their graduation banquet on May 16th, along with sweet anecdotes about how much fun they have with our great kids. Congratulations, class of 2009!

HBO Golf Classic 2009 a big success!
95 golfers enjoyed a great day on the links at this year's HBO Charity Golf Tournament on May 16th at Evansville Golf Club. Those hard-working Haraldson Brothers put on another great event and raised $11,250 to support Capital Candlelighters' financial assistance program to benefit the families of area kids with cancer!
