Steve and Patricia Peters
Fe Viva Administration and Directors of Casa Esperanza
Steve & Patricia and their family joined Fe Viva in November 2006. They work with the CasaKids and Sponsorship program as well as help with hosting teams, and adding energy and support to the Fe Viva staff. Patricia and her daughters have a passion for praise and worship in music and dance, so we hope to see our CasaKids excel in this area with their guidance.

Featured Ministry:
Casa Esperanza (House of Hope)
Built in 2004 and situated at the Fe Viva base, in Chiquimulilla, Guatemala, Casa Esperanza rescues children who have been orphaned, abused, neglected, or simply not able to be supported by their parents. All the children have been handed over to Case Esperanza by the courts and many are now under Casa Esperanza's permanent guardianship. They will remain there until they become adults. While they are there, the children live in a safe home; where they are loved and cared for. Casa Esperanza covers food, clothing, education, transportation to and from school, textbooks, uniforms, medical, dental and eye care, surgery when needed, counselling, and legal/court fees in custody battles. Additional special care; medical, dental and special educational needs; are provided by qualified Guatemalan and North American professionals and volunteers. Presently, in this 24/7 home, there are 37 children (3 babies and 34 children ages 1 to 17). In the future, Casa Esperanza will house 50 children and rescue up to 10 more children temporarily until authorities can find a safe alternate home for them. Primary care is provided by 12 full-time Guatemalan house parents and support staff; many who have come from poor homes and/or single parent families themselves, but provide qualified care for the children of the home. There are also a number of part-time & full-time volunteers who help. Casa Esperanza is run entirely by donations from individuals, businesses, and church groups in Canada, the United States and Guatemala. They have a sponsorship program that covers the needs of the children and the running of the home. Casa Esperanza is overseen by Canadian directors Steve and Patricia Peters and their family. They have been directors since 2006 and have brought Casa Esperanza Children's Home to such a high quality of care that it is recognized by the Guatemalan government as one of the top two children's home in all of Guatemala. Please help us see that these children experience the love of God in their lives. Your monthly support will help us provide all of the essential benefits for these children that we all enjoy in North America. Periodical updates and reports of the childrens' progress, prayer needs, victories, etc., will be sent to you. We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions - we would love to hear from you.

Block Making Facility for Casa Esperanza and Families in Crisis
'Project Rescue': Cinder Block Making Facility.
At this time, Fe Viva is developing a plan to make the ministry of Casa Esperanza and the sponsorship families become more financially self-sustaining and also provide employment for local Guatemalan's. The creation of a block making facility is a major project that would help achieve this goal.
Over the last 5 years Guatemala's economy has been in a slow upward climb. The government is becoming more stable, roads are being repaired, a larger, modern International airport is being re-modeled and construction is happening everywhere. Despite what is happening in the U.S. and Canada, Guatemala is moving forward economically. (For example, five years ago there was about 3 internet café's in Chiquimulilla (nearby city of 70,000) and now there are over 30+ internet places alone.) In Guatemala, most of the building and construction materials used are block & steel. The majority of blocks are made in Guatemala City, which is about 2 to 3 hours away. Delivery is also expensive due to the high fuel prices. It takes a lot of time, energy and money to get the blocks needed to the area Fe Viva is located. (South west Guatemala). Within a 45 minute drive there is a population of 300,000+. This facility would create employment for local workers and create self-sustaining revenue for the Casa Esperanza children's home and the "Families in Crisis" sponsorship program. At this time only 65% of the Casa kids and 'Families in Crises' are sponsored. This project would help fund a self-generating cash flow to help support the remaining 35% who have no sponsors.
Project Cost: $55,000 dollars Includes: -purchase of a flatbed truck -two block forming machines -basic tools & machinery(hand tools, trowels, etc.) -supplies (sand, water, etc.) -building a large covered lean-to work area -start up cost for leasing land to set up and open the facility.
