 2009 Day of Caring

On April 18th, at 9 am over 850 volunteers shared a breakfast donated by local restaurants and got themselves ready to volunteer at over 65 non-profit agencies across Lebanon County.

Members of the Harrisburg Area Community College Student Government Heidi Detweiler and Katrina Moyer got messy painting the YMCA Skatepark. The YMCA was able to open their skatepark to the community for no charge last year, thanks to the help of volunteers like Heidi and Katrina!

It was a beautiful day. We thank all of our volunteers who were able to get out into the community and really show the strength of Lebanon County's dedication to Live United!

Father and daughter team, Hannah and Ken Funk work together to get the public minigolf course at Coleman's Park ready for the season. This is their first year volunteering for the Day of Caring. Ken told us: "This is a really great family activity!"

Cathy Roth pictured with a crew of volunteers and students of the Literacy Council of Lebanon County getting ready to prepare garden beds for the Halcyon Activity Center. Roth has been volunteering with the Day of Caring for about five years. Says Roth, "this is a good chance for our students to speak English and do it in a relaxed way!"
