Minnesota Foodshare: July Campaign
During July, First Christian will take part in Minnesota Foodshare. No, you aren't going crazy. Normally this is an event we do in March, but we are doing it again in July to help Groveland Foodshelf which is facing financial difficulty during this economic down turn.
During July, please consider dropping off your nonperishable food items in the Big Barrel in the narthex, or consider giving a monetary donation. The goal is to raise $1000 and for every dollar raised, the Outreach Committee will match, dollar for dollar. If you are writing a check, please make it out to First Christian Church and place the word, "foodshelf" in the memo line.
Also, please remember to bring your loose change next Sunday, July 18. Associate Pastor Dennis Sanders will be available after worship with his trademark coffee can, collecting donations for the July Campaign. Please consider giving generously.

Help Needed for Refugees Jan Lynn, pastor of Spirit of
Joy Disciples of Christ, indicated in a May meeting that members from his
church are enthusiastic about joining FCC in sponsoring a refugee family and
will concentrate on providing material goods for the family. FCC is hoping to be able to
provide transportation to meetings, shopping and other family trips. Currently, 2 drivers have volunteered,
but several more are needed so that the driving needs can be shared. The need for transportation
will be most intense in the first few weeks after the family arrives, and will
taper off as they learn to use public transportation. If you can help with the
driving for a refugee family, please contact Warren Westphal or Martha
Harris or contact the church at 612-870-1868.

Welcome Basket Drive
To you, it's just a key. To a homeless person, it's the key to a new life.
Thanks to all who took the time to go to dollar stores across the Twin Cities to create welcome baskets for the Currie Avenue Partnership. We were able to provide 10 baskets to folks who now have a place to call home.
Thanks for being Christ to our sisters and brothers.
