Minnesota Foodshare: July Campaign
Minnesota FoodshareBeginning July 4, First Christian will take part in Minnesota Food-share. Now, this is an event we normally do in March, but we are doing it again in July to help Grove-land Foodshelf which is facing fi-nancial difficulty during this economic down turn.

During July, please consider drop-ping off your nonperishable food items in the Big Barrel in the narthex, or consider giving a monetary donation. The goal is to raise $1000 and for every dollar raised, the Out-reach Committee will match, dollar for dollar. Please consider giving generously.

FCC at Twin Cities Gay Pride
First Christian will take part with other downtown churches in sponsoring a booth at this year's Twin Cities Gay Pride Festival.

We are looking for people willing to volunteer for two hours at the booth on either Saturday, June 26 or Sunday, June 27. If interested, please email Dennis Sanders at associatepastor@fccminneapolis.org with the day and time you are available.

Welcome Basket Drive

Adam FriebergTo you, it's just a key.
To a homeless person, it's the key to a new life.

The Currie Avenue Partnership has already helped 10 long-term home-less adults obtain housing and more will continue to be housed each week!

The Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness (of which First is a member) is sponsoring a drive to collect "welcome baskets" full of cleaning supplies for those that are newly housed. Cleaning supplies are a great need as they can be financially out of reach for those living on very limited income and will allow people to take care of their new apartments.

This is a fun and easy opportunity for everyone, especially families with kids, to support the work of the Currie Avenue Partnership and those that are moving into housing.

Thanks to those who have already donated their welcome baskets!  Remember that you can still participate! Most of the items are quite inexpensive and can be purchased at a local Target, WalMart or dollar store. Please drop off your baskets by June 27. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Dennis at associatepastor@fccminneapolis.org, or by phone at 612-870-1868.

Learn About the Currie Avenue Partnership
As we take part in the Welcome Basket Drive, some of you are probably wondering, "what is the Currie Avenue Partnership?"  To answer that question, consider reading this news release from Hennepin County Government which tells the story of how the partnership came to be.  You can also see the list of donors, which includes First Christian.
