 Summer at First

Adam Frieberg
Summer is a time to rest, relax and renew yourself after a busy winter and spring. There are several activities going on at First Christian that will help you in your walk with God and each other. Feel free to take part!

 Summer Faith Formation Class
Adam FriebergWho is Jesus?  That's a question people have been asking for centuries.  Join us this summer beginning on May 30 at 9:15AM as we attempt to seek for ourselves who this son of carpenter is to us.  We will be using the book, "The Meaning of Jesus" by N.T. Wright and Marcus Borg as our guide.  We are meeting in the Hearthstone Room.  If you would like to purchase a book, please see Pastor Dennis.

Art of the Covenant: Summer Edition

Art of the Covenant, ourAdam Frieberg children's Sunday School class will continue to meet during the summer with an abbreviated class at 9:15AM.  This is wonderful opportunity for kids to learn about God through art.  If you want to find out more, please contact Deb Murphy at christianformation@fccminneapolis.org. .

 Coming Soon: Vacation Bible School

First Christian will join Plymouth Creek Christian Church in Plymouth and Lake Harriet Christian Church in Minneapolis, in holding a joint Vacation Bible School June 26-27.  Grounded in Jesus' Parable of the Sower, ReNew: The Green VBS brings together the Bible and environmental stewardship. From tiny towns to huge cities, kids grow in faith as they play, learn, sing, and work toward renewing their congregations and communities. By serving in the community and inviting the community into church, kids demonstrate that being green can be easy, faithful, and fun. Although current threats to our environment can seem scary, ReNew is about hope, opportunity, and service. Kids and congregations lead the way as stewards of the earth.

What happens when heads, hearts, and hands are in harmony? Kids grow in faith, have fun, and change the world.

If your kids are interested in taking part, please contact Deb Murphy.  You register or volunteer by going to the Plymouth Creek website at http://www.plymouthcreek.org/.

Welcome Basket Drive

Adam FriebergTo you, it's just a key.
To a homeless person, it's the key to a new life.

The Currie Avenue Partnership has already helped 10 long-term home-less adults obtain housing and more will continue to be housed each week!

The Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness (of which First is a member) is sponsoring a drive to collect "welcome baskets" full of cleaning supplies for those that are newly housed. Cleaning supplies are a great need as they can be financially out of reach for those living on very limited income and will allow people to take care of their new apartments.

This is a fun and easy opportunity for everyone, especially families with kids, to support the work of the Currie Avenue Partnership and those that are moving into housing.
The Welcome Basket Drive will begin June 6. Pastor Dennis will be available with shopping lists you can pick up. Most of the items are quite inexpensive and can be purchased at a local Target, WalMart or dollar store. Please drop off your baskets by June 27. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Dennis at associatepastor@fccminneapolis.org, or by phone at 612-870-1868.
