You Are Greater Than You Think!
by Rev. Ken
The idea of our teaching that we can know Spirit by thinking better of ourselves was very attractive to me when I first discovered our teaching. Until that time, most of my training had led me to believe that the only way to spirit was by thinking worse of myself. It was so refreshing, and life saving, to hear Kennedy Shultz say, "God is pure intelligence forever programmed to create the best that anyone of us can bring ourselves to expect for ourselves."
So then it is up to us to expect the best for ourselves. No one can do it for us and regardless of how good or evil we are, life will continue to unfold according to our expectations until we learn this principal.
Dr. Holmes wrote, "We are surrounded by ideas; and if we are receptive to them we should be able to find out anything that we wish to know."
In other words, you are using the same mind Jesus, Shakespeare and Einstein used. The same intelligence they drew from is available to you. You have as much access to genius as anyone. The only obstacle in your way is you telling yourself that you don't have it. You cannot be it while at the same time telling yourself that you're not it.
If you tell yourself you are at the mercy of life you will be, and the conditions will appear in your life to prove it to you. If you tell yourself that you are a Divine Idea from the mind of God here in the physical plane to live in abundance, ease and prosperity the conditions will appear to prove that to you as well.
Dr. Holmes writes, "Someday we must wake up to the fact that the very Power we have been using to hold ourselves in bondage to unwanted experience is also the same Power which can create for us new freedom."
An old example of this is our use of electricity. We can use this power to either cool our houses or if used incorrectly, burn them down. Electricity does not care which option you decide upon. It will work just as effectively in a productive manner as it will in a destructive one.
Dr. Holmes adds, "Just as surely as tomorrow shall come and the sun shall rise again across the darkness of the horizon and spill Its beauty and warmth to awaken the valleys into fertility, so shall each new day in our lives, bring us into greater joy of living because of a greater consciousness of the Almighty within our own souls."
