Losing that hour this past weekend clearly threw me off in many respects - not the least of which is that I'm a day late in getting the Wildcat Wire out! My apologies.
First, many thanks are due to all who provided food and assistance with last Monday's staff meeting. I was out of town, but I understand from Carole Klein that everything went like clockwork, and that the food was delicious, as always. Offering refreshments at these monthly staff meetings is one small way the PTA shows our teachers and staff how much we appreciate the work they do, day in and day out.
Please mark your calendars for April 8th! It's the annual Cultural Arts Cocktail Party & Fundraiser. See story below for more details, but it promises to be a great spring evening out - lots of fun, and for a great cause too.
And speaking of evenings out, a group of Westland mothers must be getting spring fever! They're planning an informal Mom's Night Out on Thursday, March 28 from 8-10 at Vapiano's in Bethesda (corner of Hampden & Woodmont). No need to rsvp - just show up, reconnect with old friends and meet new ones, and let's start off the spring right!

Register NOW for Spring After-School Programs!
 At last - the spring catalogue is up and running on the website. Just click here to check out all our great spring programming! Follow the simple registration instructions, and you're all set. Many of the class sizes are limited, so don't delay to ensure you get your first choice.
If you haven't already done so, don't forget to fill out the Parent Survey regarding Westland's after school programming. Just click here to register your opinions. It will only take a few minutes, and we really need your input. The students all filled out their surveys in a STAR class several weeks ago, and results are being tabulated. |

Celebrate Westland's Cultural Arts!
 As many of you know and those who are new to Westland will discover, one of the highlights of the spring semester is the two-week-long Shakespeare residency in which every student gets to participate. The PTA and Westland staff have worked with the Maryland Shakespeare Company over several years now to perfect a program specifically tailored to Westland's students. This year, the residency will begin on April 27th.
Underwriting the residency is one of the PTA's single biggest budget expeditures. It's a great bargain at just under $13 per student, but that still comes to $13,000. To help raise those funds, we throw a party!
So, save the date - Friday, April 8th from 6:30-9:00pm. Shelagh Meehan and Jordan Smyth have generously agreed to host the event at their home in Bethesda. An invitation should appear in your in-box in the next day or so, and we hope you'll be able to join us - or, if not, make a donation to support this wonderful programming. |
