This two hour after-school club combines homework help to boost your child's grades, strengthen academic organizational skills, supervised, safe basketball drills, playing in supervised games, and of course, fun!

I had a perfect record last week - the date of every single event I highlighted has been changed - some more than once! That's not exactly the kind of record I'm generally aiming for. Anyway, while the domino theory may have been discredited as a foreign policy tenet, it still very much applies to Westland's calendar...one event changes and a whole lot of other events get pushed back as well.
So, here's the deal re re-re-schedulings. The Talent Show will now take place Feb. 11th. The Staff/Student Basketball Game will take place Feb. 25th. Bingo Night will take place March 18th. The PTA Cocktail Party/Cultural Arts Fundraiser will take place April 8th. In all honesty, it's probably a better distribution of events, but the snow gods had better cooperate!
My plug for the annual Westland Talent Show still stands, whenever it happens! It's a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talents - and they have many! I encourage everyone to come cheer them on.
We are still gearing up for a great Bingo Night, but now we're gearing up first FIRST for a great Staff/Student Basketball Game. It was a blast last year, and promises to be even better this year. We have some exciting new partners - Ashley Tutors and One on One Basketball - and they've definitely stepped up our game! The kids will be watching a great commercial for the event featuring Danny Vogelman on Friday's WakeUp Westland; after it airs, we'll try to post it on the Westland website so you call all enjoy it. I confess I've seen a sneak preview, and it's awesome.
Lest you think it's all fun and games at Westland, never fear. Parents of current 5th, 6th, and 7th graders are invited to Westland's Parent Information Nights from 7:00-8:45pm (2/2 at Westland in English; 2/3 at Coffield Center in Spanish) to meet our administrators & counselors, learn about course selection, new course offerings, etc. Click

Nothing but Net!
 Well, if the Wizards can beat the Celtics, then IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE WESTLAND TEACHERS AND STAFF TO BEAT THE STUDENTS?? Experience vs. youth, hmmmmm............. Only one way to find out: come watch them play at the Westland Staff v Student Basketball game,Friday, Feb 25th, 6:30-9 pm, at Westland. Fun games for all ages, fantastic prizes, great entertainment. Don't forget to put it on your calendar and reserve tickets now! To reserve early, email your child's full name and grade and the # of tickets requested to Pattie Friedman. This is NOT Your Elementary School Bingo Night!

Bingo "pads" with 20 games will be sold at the door --- $10 for 3 cards on one "pad". Kids familiar with Bingo rules can easily handle their own pad. Parents---how many can you play at once?? Our Bingo Chair Patty Craver has been known to juggle 5 at a time! We'll have ink dotters for sale for $1 (or bring your own).
