Last Wednesday, Westland hosted a delegation of 10 young Moroccan women coaches, their chaperones and translators. The women are in DC learning about how to use sports as an instrument of change - particularly in the lives of young girls. The group toured the school, visited PE and world studies classes, and by great good luck, met up with Westland's two Moroccan students in Mr. Lee's computer class (see photo above)! I showed the group around, and I have to say how proud I was of our students and teachers. Kids were friendly and curious about our visitors and teachers generously offered quick glimpses into Westland life. Westland can be a busy and crowded place, but on Wednesday it showed its true colors as an IB world school - welcoming, generous, curious and friendly! Thanks so much to everyone who contributed to such a great afternoon.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Nite on Tuesday. Please plan to come early if you can - as you can see below, the PTA Expo offers a great opportunity to do a lot of "one stop shopping"!
As always, please contact me or Exec. Vice President Pattie Koh Friedman if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or especially offers of help!
