Student Directory

The Westland Student Directory is a great resource (and a great place to advertise). But it's only as good as you make it.

You can check the accurancy of your student's directory listing on-line. If you don't know your username and password, please email alysa emden.

If you'd like to advertise in the Directory (and reach  our 1,000 families!), click here for more information. Your support makes it possible for the PTA to provide a free directory to each student.

Welcome back! I hope everyone's summer included lots of relaxation and fun. I know mine did, but it also seemed to fly by awfully quickly.

Although school was out of session, work never really stops at Westland. One of our exciting projects this summer was a revamping of the Westland website. With the support of a PTA grant, the school website underwent a complete overhaul. We're excited about the results, and hope you are too. As with any website, it's always a work in progress and the PTA will continue to underwrite updates and administration throughout the school year. Click here to check it out; this should be  your first stop if you have questions about Westland or the PTA.

Much work also went into producing the summer mailing that you should have received in early August. Many thanks to Westland administrative secretary Nancy Zegers for her herculean efforts in getting everything copied, labelled, sorted, mailed...and to those Westland parents & students who gave up some valuable summer time to pull it all together. It seems so simple when  it appears in your mailbox, but it's the result of many hours of effort. If you didn't receive yours, you can find it on the website.

Other valuable summer hours were devoted to welcoming back our teachers and staff for their pre-school workweek. Many, many thanks to all who donated goodies and underwrote the costs of the breakfast the PTA provided on August 23rd; we had so much that were able to provide another breakfast on August 25th. That's a really wonderful way to start the school year.

I know everyone is feeling a little overwhelmed by all the back-to-school tasks so I won't give you my hard sell about the importance of volunteering at Westland now. Next week. But do give some thought to the importance of being part of the community that is involved in your child's education. It will enrich your life, and your family's experience at Westland.

Finally, apologies to those of you who are receiving this and have unsubscribed from Westland-net. While the two databases are similar, they are not identical. If you would like to unsubcribe from the Wildcat Wire, just click on the "SafeUnsubscribe" link all the way at the bottom of the newsletter and it shall be done!

As always, please contact me or Exec. Vice President Pattie Koh Friedman if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or especially offers of help!
