As you can see from the Calendar, it's a busy week at Westland! The PTA's annual Magazine Sale kicks off today (see more below). Also, the Westland  Directories are in and will be distributed at lunch today! If your child doesn't bring one home this afternoon, please remind them to pick it up during lunch Tuesday. They look great - many thanks to Lisa Heaton, Carrie Hurd & Alex Weiner  for their hard work in pulling this massive project together!

We've got our first PTA meeting coming up on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 7:00-9:00pm in Westland's Media Center. Principal Danny Vogelman will deliver his "State of the School" address, and we'll also hear from Officer Witherspoon and Ms. Dana Mathis of the Bethesda Police Dept. about what our kids are REALLY doing in Bethesda on Friday nights. They'll also talk about Internet safety and other issues of concern.  It's information every parent should have, and we're delighted they can join us.  We hope you can too!

Thanks to all who came out to the Westland Open House last Monday. There was a great turnout! Special thanks to Hospitality Chair Jan Eisner for the coffee & snacks (and especially to Susan Bien for the homebaked goodies!) Thanks also to Alex Weiner, Isabelle Melese d'Hospital, Joci Spector, Susan Buchanan, Pattie Koh Friedman, Johanna Walk, and Pooh Shapiro for staffing the PTA information table.

And finally...we haven't reached our goal of 100% PTA membership yet, so if you haven't already done so, please
join the PTA today!
