Quality Systems Specialist
Boeing
Steven Cantor works in Supplier Quality with Boeing in Seattle, WA. His position entails development, oversight and mentorship of supplier and partner quality management systems within the northern European region. He is a 2009 graduate of the NGSU MSQSM program which he says "provided an arsenal of tools and methods to implement into the workplace and projects." He also says that, "Having learned such a suite of tools allows me to drive toward success that you can measure." Steven says that he chose NGSU for his degree because "it was one of the few learning institutions that offer a degree in Quality." The focus of his Master's Business Project was on the processing of nonconformance paper and the importance of compliance to processes. In the future, Steven is interested in earning his DBA from NGSU as well.

NGSU Students, Alumni & Faculty Assist in Gulf Oil Spill Relief
NGSU students, alumni and faculty members from organizations such as the United States Coast Guard have been involved in various extents in the relief effort following the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and putting their Quality Systems Management degrees into practice. Former USCG Commandant, Admiral Thad Allen, who has been heading up the government's response is also an honorary alumnus of NGSU.

NGSU to Honor COL Randy Larsen with Award for Excellence in Public Education in Homeland Security & Defense

Colonel Randall J. Larsen, USAF (Ret) is the chief executive officer of the WMD Center, a not-for-profit research organization he founded along with former Senators Bob Graham (D-FL) and Jim Talent (R-MO). He is being honored with the NGSU Annual Award for Excellence in Public Education in Homeland Security and Defense on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. This award is presented annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in educating the American public to the threats, dangers, issues and opportunities presented by the field of Homeland Security. An Evening with Friends of NGSU
On Thursday, August 19, 2010, members of the NGSU community located in the Massachusetts area including students, prospective students, alumni, faculty, staff and distinguished guests will gather for an "Evening with Friends of NGSU" in Foxborough, MA. This will be a chance for members of the NGSU community to come together for networking, camaraderie and the opportunity to learn about the future of NGSU.
The evening will include presentations by NGSU President and Founder, Dr. Robert Gee; Dr. David McIntyre, Vice President, Academic Affairs, Homeland Security Management Program; as well as alumni, students and staff.

Meet Your Professor Gina Williams
Product & Process Quality Specialist
Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne
Gina Williams is a Product & Process Quality Specialist with Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne in Chatsworth, CA as well as an NGSU alumna. She says, ´Having completed the program helps me connect with the students. I understand the curriculum and how the group projects can benefit the team members in learning how to work as a team along with providing benefits to the company through the overall projects savings."
Professor Williams has worked for Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne for 20 years. She began as a secretary and was promoted to a position in the Strategic Planning Group where she began her "Lean" journey. Gina is not afraid of hard work; prior to her promotion she went to the University of Phoenix and received a bachelor's degree in Business Management while working full-time and raising a family. As a Six Sigma/Lean professional who has successfully implemented improvement projects both on and above the shop floor, she has led over 100 lean workshops. Her major strengths include leading Kaizen events and mentoring employees at all levels in lean principles.

Introducing Dr. Helena Sturnick
NGSU President Robert Gee announces the appointment of Dr. Helena J. Sturnick as Special Advisor to the President on Standards and Outcomes. Dr. Sturnick brings to this role her past presidential experience at five campuses, extensive work with regional accrediting agencies, service as a Vice President at the American Council on Education in Washington, author of numerous publications on leadership, and her work as an executive coach and leadership consultant in nine countries. "Working with NGSU and President Gee is a pleasure and an honor. Under his leadership, the University and its programs are uniquely relevant for the challenges of today's world."
