Meet Your Professor Leland Williams, Director, Quality, Support Systems (Retired) Boeing Integrated Defense Systems
Leland Williams retired in April 2006 as the Director of Quality for Support Systems for Boeing in San Antonio. He also led the Support System Quality Council, which was composed of the quality leaders from the various Support System sites.
During his 31 years with the Boeing Company, Leland held a wide range of positions in Quality including Supplier Lean, Fabrication Program Quality Assurance and Quality Audit. His career at Boeing also afforded him the opportunity to be actively engaged in numerous quality initiatives including ISO 9000, Process-Based Management, Lean, Six-Sigma, and the Malcolm Baldridge Award criteria. More importantly, Leland was instrumental in bringing NGS/U to the Boeing San Antonio site and serving as the senior champion for one of NGS/U's first graduating cohorts from San Antonio.
Since his retirement from Boeing, he has spent the last two years as an adjunct faculty member for NGSU. According to Leland, he enjoys the interaction with faculty members and students which allows him to continue his involvement with the quality field. About teaching Leland says, "I enjoy drawing parallels between what we read in our texts/articles and what is happening in government/industry and then challenging the students to develop insights on future trends."
