The Red X® Paradigm Applied to NGS Projects: Professor Oz Rahman, Lead Faculty, NGS/U Six Sigma

Professor Oz Rahman visited the NGS/U Campus this month to discuss his theories on how the Lean Six Sigma Red X ® paradigm can be applied to NGS/U Projects.

Meet Your Professor:
Professor Ron Kaufman
Ron Kaufman is a Management and Program Analyst, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) in the Process Improvement and Training Branch of the Comptroller Division at the U.S. Coast Guard Finance Center in Chesapeake VA. He is also an NGS alumnus and faculty member in the Homeland Security and Defense Program. He was the first Coast Guard Certified Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt.
His branch of the Coast Guard is responsible for the strategic planning process, provides training for all employees, implements process improvement through the use of Lean Six Sigma tools, and performs organizational assessments. His responsibilities center on the process improvement area. As a LSSBB, he leads project teams and mentors Green Belts and Yellow Belts in improving operational processes at the Finance Center. NGS/U attends Annual Lean Six Sigma Conference in China
NGS/U's international outreach includes presentations about lean six sigma by administrators and faculty.
Dr. Bob Gee, NGS/U President, was the invited speaker at China's Annual Lean Six Sigma Conference on the topic" Lean/Six Sigma Applications in the US Government and Military Services." The Conference was attended by over four hundred Chinese companies and was co-hosted by Dr He Zhen, NGS/U adjunct faculty member in the DBA program. Dr. He and Dr. Gee also discussed the "matrix maturity model" for assessing lean/six sigma readiness in Asian corporations.
