Growing up in the South, we had 4 or 5 large pecan trees in the yard. We would harvest pecans i the fall by picking them up off the ground-a distracting process as I think sometimes I ate more than I picked up. The best thing about pecan picking is what my Mama made with those picked nuts.

Greetings!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! It is officially December and with the warm weather we had in November, I am hoping it is not the calm before the storm!
I am trusting everyone had a great Thanksgiving. It was a good one for us. Since all of the kids were going to families of their spouses, or soon to be, on Thanksgiving Day, we decided to have everyone over the Sunday before so we could all be together to celebrate what we are thankful for. For Thanksgiving, Charlotte and I decided to leave on Wednesday to drive to Kentucky to my sisters and surprise my Mom, who is 84. I called my sister to let her know we were coming and not to tell Mama because we wanted to surprise her, but then I found out my sister was going to be spending Thanksgiving in Indiana. We then tried my nephew, Adam and his wife Courtney in hopes that they could help us with our surprise tactics and luckily we were able to crash there. The plan was coming together after all, whew.
So, we were off Wednesday afternoon, right after Charlotte's doctors appointment (she is doing great by the way). Fast forward to Thursday morning, we arrived at Adam and Courtney's safe and sound at about 10:30 in the morning, about an hour and a half before my Mom arrived for dinner. We parked the car in the garage, so it wouldn't be seen when Mama pulled up to the house. When she arrived, Charlotte and I hid in the living room, as she came in and said all her hellos, she proceeded to the bathroom. While she was in there, we made our way to the kitchen and as she came out of the bathroom, she just stood stiff in her tracks, stared at us, blinked a few times to make sure she was seeing right, and then started to cry. She said she thought we were a mirage. Mama said that it was the best Thanksgiving she has ever had.
Being able to make that trip, made me realize how doing the littlest thing for each other can make such a hugh impact. I do hope you are also able to do some little things this holiday season.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Your friend,
Bill

So that's why!
Is it really that important to check your car for winter?
As much as many of us would like to, there is no getting around winter. As we prepare ourselves for winter, getting warmer clothes out of storage, breaking out the shovels and scrapers for those snowy and cold morning, don't forget to check your car over for winter as well. It is important before the season is in full force to check or have us check items such as your defroster, brakes, heat, battery, antifreeze, wipers and tires. Doing this quick inspections, can prevent a series of things that could affect your this winter.
