What's Cookin'

Fall is here and nothing beats the pumkin flavors that fill different meals at the family table. Bill and I joined our son Josh and his Fiancee' Nicole for a homecooked dinner and this pumkin side was the perfect compliment to the stuffed pork loin they served.
I loved it so much I couldn't wait to share this recipe with you!

Greetings!

I am writing this on Monday, October 31st, reflecting on quite the weekend we had. I do hope this letter finds everyone okay. I know many of you are without power; Charlotte and I are as well. Feel free to stop by the garage for some coffee or to warm up for a bit. I do always find that there is a bright side to everything and the bright side in this case, is that it's not bitter cold out, so people don't have to panic about their pipes freezing, etc.

Speaking of the bright side of things....

At first we wrestled with whether or not we would share the following in our newsletter but we decided to, with the hope it will be an encouragement to some or all. As many of you know, Charlotte is a breast cancer survivor from 2000. This August, after a routine mammogram, Charlotte was, for the second time, diagnosed with breast cancer, however this time on the opposite side. We were shocked to get this news and our minds started racing about all the things this could or would entail. Would it be like last time? Would there be a need for chemo, radiation and a long list of complications? We began to pray and ask God for his wisdom, guidance and mercy as we started the process of treatment. So, you might be saying to yourself, where is this bright side you speak of?

The bright side is, first and foremost, God cares and answers prayer. Our prayers were certainly answered. The tumor was discovered early, it had not moved into the lymph nodes, it was not an aggressive cancer. We do not have to do any chemo or radiation and Charlotte's recovery has been coming along great from her surgery. All has gone well and things could not have been better considering the circumstances.

If you or someone you love is going through tough times, hardships or health problems, know that you are not alone. God cares.

Your friend,

Bill

Gurney's News

It's that time of year again, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, my favorite holiday of the year. We have great things happening this month here at the shop, including one of my favorite specials, when you bring in your email special this month and we will donate 5% of your bill to the Nashua Soup Kitchen. Also, in lieu of our bad weather we are having a early bird (so I thought) snow tire special for the month of November. Or if you need all weather tires, Michelin is running a promotion which we are also contributing a Gurney's $30 gift card to use towards your next visit when taking advantage of that.

In other news, our Milford location is going strong, we are getting the showroom there set up with Leer Truck Caps displays, so if you would like to see some, just stop by the Milford store. If you are interested in seeing their full selection visit www.leer.com.

Last but not least, we would like to announce, with great pride, that Gurney's was voted Best in Automotive Service by The Telegraph's Best of Greater Nashua vote. We also won for the 8th year running Best in Auto Service from TKM National Independent Survey as well as our 5th year winning Best Oil Change in the area.
We couldn't be this successful without you all and would like to express our deepest gratitude for supporting us all these years.

Humbly,

Bill and Charlotte Gurney

So that's how!

How does a shock absorbers work?

A shock absorber is a suspension component that controls the up-and-down motion of the vehicle's wheels. Their main job is to dampen any jolts that result when wheels pass over bumps or dips, keeping the vehicle's body from bouncing down the road on its springs. In fact, the simplest shock absorber test is to push down on the vehicle's bumper; a healthy shock asborber or strut will allow the body to rebound but quikly come to rest. If the vehicle goes into a prolonged bounce cycle, the shock needs to be replaced. Bad shocks or struts aren't safe because they fail to maximize tire contact with the road, which degrades handling and braking.
