Congratulations to the Class of 67 for a wonderful reunion last week.  The class officers and volunteers truly worked hard to make the reunion a memorable and joyful experience.  I applaud and thank them for a job well done...

This Sunday we will start our 2nd service at 11:30am rather than 11:00am.  Hopefully this will allow our special guest church the opportunity to participate in their Service and then join us for our Mission Annual Day Service.   Pastor Mose Jones will be our Speaker.

We welcome your prayers as we endeavor to pursue God's purposes for our lives.

THE LORD IS SLOW TO ANGER

The Lord is slow to anger and great in power... (Nahum 1:3)

Growing up I remember my Grandmother(Mama Nene) exhibiting the patience of Job and the love of Christ in almost every situation.  No matter what was going on around her, she almost always remained calm.  In fact, I only remember her getting angry on one occasion.  It really frightened me because I had never seen her so upset before that time.  She is with the Lord in Heaven now, but I still remember her with that loving nature.

Are you a person who controls your temper in every situation?  Are do you allow your emotions to overwhelm you by the little things of life?  In the passage above, the Prophet Nahum informs us that the Lord is slow to anger.  However, he makes it clear that God is powerful and could take action at any time He desired against injustice.  Yet God holds in His anger and shows mercy to us over and over again.   He gives us time to reflect on our wrongful acts and repent.  His grace and mercy is boundless.  Accordingly, as Believers, we need not be terrified because we know that God loves us and shows His mercy toward us.  That is not a license for us to do wrong.  Hardly, it is a reason to thank God for His goodness.

If God is slow to anger, we should emulate Him and be slow to anger as well.  All of us fall short of the Glory of God.  We sometimes spend too much time being angry at one another.  The next time someone does something that irritates you, just remember you are a child of God.  And because the Lord is slow to anger, you should be also.
