PREPARE TO BE BLESSED
The time will come when there will be abundance of crops, that the harvest time will scarcely end before the farmer starts again to sow another crop, and the terraces of grapes upon the hills of Israel will drip sweet wine! (Amos 9:13)
Are you an optimistic person? Do you expect good things to happen in your life? Or have you become a pessimist and believe the worst in every situation? I have found that Christians should be optimistic by nature because we know who is really in control. Of course, that does not mean that we will not have difficulties in our lives. But God allows trouble for only a while. We can be assured, that trouble does not last always, and things will get better. We just need to prepare to be blessed.
In the passage above, God reassures the Prophet Amos that although His people will have to reap some of what they sowed, they are still His people and He will bless them in due time. Even if we cannot see what God is doing now, we can trust Him to do what is best for us.
Perhaps you have been praying for something to happen for a long time in your circumstances and it has not happened yet. Don't get weary in well doing. God can change your circumstances for the better in the twinkling of an eye. Accordingly we should expect things to get better even if we can't see it right now. Don't limit your witness to just those things that you believe are likely to happen. Believe that the "unlikely" can happen as well. Remember, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
I often tell the story of the woman who had no food to cook but went to the kitchen and started boiling water anyway. Before long, a neighbor came by with a chicken and said, I was just thinking about you and thought you might like to have this chicken. The woman thanked the neighbor, gave God the praise, and put the chicken in the pot of boiling water. She had prepared to be blessed.
No matter what your circumstances may be, prepare to be blessed. After all, God always has something good coming your way. Hallelujah!
